LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Police confirmed that a 13-year-old girl’s feet have been cut off at Six Flags’ Kentucky Kingdom.
Officials said they got the call around 5 p.m. Thursday and both her feet were detached at the ankle.
According to MetroSafe dispatch supervisors, the girl was riding the Superman Tower of Power, which is 177 feet tall and drops riders at 54 miles per hour. According to Kentucky Kingdom, the girl was injured when the ride malfunctioned.

A Belgian antique dealer returned from holiday to find a thief had broken into his shop, opened it for business and sold his stock.
While Johan Dumon, 62, from Mechelen, was away the burglar stole valuables from his shop and also his home and held a two day sale.
Neighbours didn’t find the sale suspicious – even though the shop had been closed for three years, reports De Morgen.
“I can only conclude the burglar was a clever man,” said Mr Dumon. “Instead of dragging it all out of the house he sold it on the spot.”
(CNN) — Anna Nicole Smith, the voluptuous former model whose life as a Playboy centerfold, billionaire’s widow and reality TV star made her the center of tabloid attention, is dead. She was 39.
Smith was found Thursday “unconscious and unresponsive” in her room at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Hollywood, Florida, according to Hollywood Fire and Rescue.
Smith’s death comes after a year of controversies that kept her in the public eye.
Last February, she attended U.S. Supreme Court arguments over her claim to a portion of her late husband’s billion-dollar fortune. The justices unanimously decided in her favor in May.
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – A California radio station has fired 10 staff members after a contest to drink as much water as possible to win a new Nintendo Wii game console resulted in a woman’s death, a company spokesman said on Wednesday.
Jennifer Strange, 28, a mother of three, died from water intoxication after taking part in a “Hold your wee for a Wii” competition on a morning radio show on Sacramento station KDND-FM Friday.
She was one of about 20 contestants who tried to outdrink each other without going to the toilet and was reported to have drunk about seven quarts (6-1/2 liters) of water in a bid to win the Wii for her children. She was the runner-up.
After the contest she called in sick at work and was found dead at her home about five hours later.
BUCHAREST, Romania – The Habsburg family said Wednesday that it wanted to sell a Transylvanian castle famous for its connections to the 15th century medieval ruler who inspired “Dracula” for 60 million euros, or $78 million, to the local authorities, an attorney said.
The local council says it is interested in buying Bran Castle, but a government minister criticized the price tag, calling it too expensive.
Dominic Habsburg, the owner, insisted the family had honorable intentions.
“We are trying to find the best way to preserve the castle in the interest of the family and the people of Bran,” Habsburg said in a statement made available exclusively to The Associated Press.
TOKYO – Momofuku Ando, the Japanese inventor of instant noodles — a dish that has sustained American college students for decades — has died. He was 96.
Nissin Food Products Co., the company Ando founded, said on its Web site that he died Friday after suffering a heart attack.
Born in Taiwan, Ando founded his company in 1948 from a humble family operation. Faced with food shortages in post-World War II Japan, Ando thought a quality, convenient noodle product would help feed the masses.
In 1958, his “Chicken Ramen” — the first instant noodle — was introduced after many trials. Following its success, the company added other products, such as the “Cup Noodle” in 1971.
KARACHI (Reuters) – Religious organizations in Pakistan are using the Internet to help Muslims in Western countries buy and sacrifice animals for an annual festival.
Eid al-Adha marks the end of the Haj pilgrimage each year to Mecca and is known as the feast of sacrifice. Muslims who can afford it buy and slaughter animals and distribute the meat among the poor and relatives.
Muslims in Western countries unable to perform the ritual can now buy an animal over the Internet, and even watch it being slaughtered, before its meat is given away.
DUBAI – The screams were louder than the roar of the engines when more than 100 passengers on board a Saudi plane fought off an invasion by 80 stowaways: mice.
Al-Hayat newspaper reported on Friday that the mice escaped from the bag of a traveler on the internal Saudi Arabian Airlines flight and started falling on the heads and scurrying between the feet of panic-stricken passengers.
“An hour after it took off from Riyadh, the aircraft was at an altitude of 28,000 feet when passengers were surprised by the mice…” the paper quoted Omar al-Jarrah, an airline official as saying.
